I think that it is personal preference. When I got mine it had the bench seat that was totally trashed, plus we had a set of bucket seats. I went with the buckets, but in some ways I wish that I had kept the bench.

I think it comes down to what are you looking for in seating? I think that the buckets make it a sportier look, and maybe more stability in the seat. The bench gives you more room for passengers, and more chance of getting that special someone right beside you in the seat as you go out for a cruise. In 69 you still had only the lap belt, so I would think about that, especially if you are planning on putting any power under the hood. Are you going with a more original look? There are so many things to consider, and only you can answer those questions. I will tell you that from my experience, spend the money now, because ultimately if you are not happy with the cheaper route, you will spend the money anyway. Just my 2 cents.

If the frames are solid they can be used. I took mine apart had them sand blasted and expoyed primered them and painted them . If your springs are ok you can used them and just buy new foam and covers. I replaced mine because of broken springs. It wasn't that bad to redo them. I think the springs are $70 each and the foam run about $130 for both seats. Buckets is the only way to go for me. You can put the covers on yourself also.

I like my bench seat. It seems to me that bench seats are rarer because a lot of owners ditch the bench for buckets. I get a lot of positive comments about it having a bench seat.

Yea i was just being lazy and not wanting to do both seats! but i am going to stick to it only because i have the center console but my wife likes the idea of having the bench for more room but then she was thinking it might be a little harder to look back when my daughter is sitting in the back seat. so i am not sure yet. i am going to finish the rear seat in the next month and then we shall see

The floor mounts for a bench seat are not the same as for buckets so it's not a direct swap. You would have to weld in new mounts.

I did my buckets, foam was good, had to replace some springs and new covers. I wouldn't call it a simple job putting on the new covers but you can do it.
