Do you think I'm too high or low? I figure if you buy a core engine that needs a complete rebuild, it's going to cost a grand. Parts and labor can easily be 3 grand. Add up the cost of the accessories, another grand. Trans is around 5-7 hundred, headers a couple hundred.

I agree with Tony, my motor cost me about $4500 and I had the motor, carb, headers and it is a 396. i just sold my T10 for $600. I'll give you 3k for it and double my money parting it out.

I just looked at few on the internet and found them to be about $3500 for just the motor. But I know in our area the old big block are not selling. I see the same adds over and over. I had a 69 396 engine for sale this spring and could not give it away. Things are not selling as well with this economy the way it is.

Hmmm, around here I can buy a running 454 for around $500. I just found a 454 I can hear run with all the accessories, hooked to a working Th400 with 24K original miles for $600. There's an ad for a 454 and a Th400. The engine has a few performance mods on it, and I can buy the engine, trans, rear and the truck it's sitting in for $1,500.

I was thinking like $2K. ....MAX. I guess it all comes down to where you live.
