That the member count is up to 300 but the active members are down to 118. How can we keep our members and keep growing; any idea's? Sometimes you can hear an echo in here. Other times I feel like a tree in the woods; does it make a sound.

True.... Gary does have a knack for posting that causes women to swoon and grown men to cry.

He has a friendly wave also.....

Hank is invaluable for sharing information. Many others ask additional question that the original poster might not have thought of. I think of a thread where it was suggested that the poster also do a compression check while checking plug colors. Most excellent suggestion! Gets you right back to the basics of solving a problem or doing the diagnostic check. I think that we all have info we can share with each other and so far I have seen no sarcastic answers to questions posed. As long as people feel that all questions are valid and they won't be put down for asking, the word will get out and help the site to grow.

But then, what do I know?

I think you got it right, not about me but in general. Try to help and provide answers when we can. The more help we provide the more times the search engines will bring people here. Hopefully they'll find a friendly site and want to stick around. We may be small right now but I really like the group of people here. As you said, no sarcastic answers, no big ego's. Hope it stays this way.

Yeah, the weather is bad outside now.

By SCOTT SONNER
Associated Press Writer
RENO, Nev. (AP) - Winds gusting more than 100 mph have left thousands without electricity in Reno and caused travel havoc across northern Nevada.

The California Highway Patrol closed part of westbound Interstate 80 north of Lake Tahoe on Tuesday morning after wind flipped a truck on its side and snow began to fall. As much as a foot of snow was expected in the upper elevations by Wednesday.

About 5,000 homes and businesses were without power in Reno, where wind ripped off shingles, blew a school bus' door off its hinges and uprooted hundreds of trees, including a 70-foot-tall pine.

Reno-Tahoe International Airport recorded sustained winds up to 63 mph, and more than a dozen flights were canceled. One gust topped 125 mph near the Mount Rose Ski Resort between Reno and Tahoe.

(AP & KTVN) -- Winds gusting more than 100 mph have left thousands without electricity in Reno and are wreaking havoc on travel throughout the Sierra Nevada.

The California Highway Patrol closed part of westbound Interstate 80 north of Lake Tahoe early today (Tuesday) after wind flipped a truck on its side and snow began to fall. As much as a foot of snow was expected in the upper elevations by tomorrow.

Washoe County schools remain open and WCSD emergency personal have asked administrators to keep students inside and off the playground throughout this severe weather situation.

Right now, 2,000 customers remain without power in the old southwest Reno (Hunter Lake, Cal Ave) area by Reno High. There are also still smaller, isolated outages around town.

NV Energy's Karl Walquist told us that "anytime we have wind we have trees that get into power lines...power poles get broken like they were today in Carson Valley. It creates havoc, because a lot of our facilities are above ground."

The weather is also affecting air travel into Reno/Tahoe International Airport. At least 16 flights were cancelled today.

The control tower measured winds up to 70 mph. But it's not the high winds that cancelled flights...it's their unpredictability. Planes are more vulnerable to wind storms…with heavy snowfall the airport can just push it off the runways and taxiways. But with wind, you just have to wait for it to subside.

Winds are expected to die down by Tuesday night as precipitation moves into the region.

Temperatures Wednesday are expected to be in the upper 40s, or about 15 to 20 degrees cooler than on Tuesday.

The area will see a chance of rain on Tuesday, with more rain on Wednesday and a slight chance of snow. The storm is expected to remain in the Reno area through Saturday.

Mike, they are beers from a certain brewery in NY, near where I'm from. Being waaay out there on the other side of the country, I'd be surprised if you had heard of any of them. The Saranac (Utica, NY) beers have national recognition...pale ale, black and tan, etc., and Genesee brewing (Rochester, NY) has been around for a long time.

More photos by posters is always good. Quick answers to questions by those who know or have the experience. I'm 53 and I just started this terrible obsession with old cars. :D

Theres always something else much worse like collecting rocks, playing paintball games, sports, collecting dust, working too much.Oh, theres also that obsession with the internet thing which I might possibly have. I will trade you sticky weed (thistle) for all those helicopter thingies you are fighting with.I dont know if yall have thistle in the colder climates but you sure dont want any. My property is surrounded by farm pasture land that is covered with thistle and when it blooms it releases thousands of tiny seeds that find their way to my yard. I have dug up several hundred so far this year and they just keep coming up. There is no way to control them without spraying all 80 acres of them ,so I just dig them up between mowing. I hope you never encounter anything as stuborn as this stuff is. And it makes for a nice uneven yard from all the holes from the root balls.
