The door to fender gap is driving me insane.
It appears as if the door moves forward a tad when i open it
Anyone know a cure for it?
Also how many shims is normal under the rad core support...i have five on each
side.
thanks.

Did you rebuild your door hinges? Is there any movement up or down on the door if you grab the door on the end and lift on it.?

My rad support has no shims. I used the rubber mounts between the rad support and frame. Just tightened till it was right.

My door goes forward a tad when it opens to. It took some creative bodywork to get it to have the proper gap and not hit opening.

Don't know about the door. I have 3 or 4 shims under rad support. I suppose it's like any other body shim, use however many you need to get things lined up. I added shims under rad support until fender and door gap was same top to bottom.

I think im geting closer...the book says shim as required at the core mount.
and the trick to the gap is having the fender proud of the door by about a MM
Also welding a bead on the fender edge to decrease gap helps in some spots.
As for hinges ...i rebuilt em with new pins and bushings...no play at all
My idea is to be able to paint doors and fenders off the car and have them be
repeatable when going back on.
we shall see how that works out.

When you get the doors where you want them, from 1/8" holes through the hinge and body.

The gaps are geting better.
i removed a few shims from core support
They still need a little welding and grinding
And i had to re do a fender patch i didnt like.
