Thanks guys...I wanted something a bit different as far as the looks of the engine went. I am totally stoked with it. Finished removing ALL the suspension last night...only thing hooked up still is the break lines, valves and Booster. Going to pull it tonight. Brought all my control arms/components into work today to sand blast. Tomorrow I will bust out the wire wheel, degreaser and some sand paper and getting the chassis ready to primer. :)

Haha.. well...through the control arms, spindles, and other little pieces in the parts cleaner here at work, than sand blasted them, primered and painted them up. Now I have to finish working on the firewall so I can finish painting the front half of the chassis and that. From there I will start bolting her all back together :)

Thanks...the firewall is going to be the "TASK" as I have to patch the cowl panel and deal with a bolt on my booster that will not come off for the life of me. Lots of wax I have to strip. I hope to have that done and painted by sunday. I really want to drop in the engine/trans by the 6th of Feb.

Just good with my hands...I learned most of it by reading the Chilton Manual and the Manuals from Ground up :D I wish I had a bigger garage so I can do a real frame off...this will do for now until I buy a house and can really dig into her.

Will do! Getting the windshield pulled today so I can eliminate all the rust up by th dash and pillars. Going to POR-15 that area and than it will be ready to primer/paint.

Looks much better now...wish I could have done a few other things to help the firewall look better (spot welds and ac patch panel) but I dont have the time nor money now. I should have the engine/trans in the frame rails this week and then will start to re install the new suspension :D

My buddies say this picture doesnt do it justice...made me happy.

Thanks. She is damn sexy IMO. I will put my valve covers on later when shes running...didnt want to scratch them up during install. At a stand still right now....Dont have all the tools I need, there all back home in CA. Have to buy all new stuff here, its a bummer. I have to install a patch panel which I planned to do this weekend, but my buddy with the tools got sick and couldnt make it over. I was going to re install the brake lines, and there so old 2 snapped off and broke. Got to order new ones now....so not much further. If all goes well (please oh please) haha I should have the body on this week. Than its off to the exhaust shop for a new 3inch system and than order the driveshaft....

Im glad I have no wife or kids yet :D

Highway Star
06-28-2010, 09:48 AM
Brandon, with that much power, shouldn't you be toying with the notion of a 3.5" or 4" exhaust system?

Notalent
06-28-2010, 10:07 AM
I have been debating that.... some say 3 some say 3.5. If it was an all out race app I may do a 4inch, but its mostly going to be street and maybe the strip 2-3 times a month. Im going to confirm with PYPES before I order the kit and see what they recommend.

Thanks Grumpy :D I certainly cant wait to turn that key for the first time.....made some more progress. Got some buddys coming over this week to knock some stuff out. Having problems with the brake lines being stuck on the valve right now....have them soaking in penetrating oil to break them loose...should be back on the car tomorrow.

Got the Pypes exhaust system ordered and have the rest of the body back on...I REALLY hope to have her running next weekend and than I can order the driveshaft.

That billet belt system is awesome!!!

Notalent
10-08-2010, 08:26 AM
Lol thanks, it is some BLING BLING haha...wanted a completely different belt setup than whats out there and this setup is trick!

I got the brakes done last night, all new lines and had to buy a new proportioning valve. Tried to use the old one but whomever had the car before used bits and pieces and rigged it up. Got it all done right now.

Going to start mounting the cooling system tonight than knock out the electrocnics and she will be ready to fire up! From there just need a new driveshaft and hook up the exhaust.....sooo close now....im like a kid in a candy shop haha

Notalent
03-09-2011, 08:37 AM
Its been some time since I posted an update, but everything is going good and I will be firing her up tomorrow night. As long as that go's good off to the exhaust shop to put on my new Pypes Kit...I wanted it welded.

I ended up doing some more stuff, so I know shes done right. The American Autowire kit was awesome and very simple to do. Still need to hide some wiring later on, but it works great for now. Also since my Chevelle/Malibu is the base model, there was stuff I didnt need to use for gauges and stuff, but I can use it in the future.

The Dennys Driveshaft went in perfectly. I also purchased a new gas tank and had a sump welded in and ran all new 1/2 inch fuel line. I will post some pics and hopefully a video in the next few days! Waving

Looking real nice! Did you do the American Autowire complete harness with the updated blade fuse block?

Notalent
03-10-2011, 11:00 AM
Yes I did, but they work better for Chevelles than Malibus. The Chevelles have all the gauges, on the Malibus there are alot of things you wont use, but its good to have if you want to do upgrades.

Some new pics...will have the finished ones tonight :D Im going to run the wires that go along the top of the firewall through the inside in a few weeks...we were in a bind for time so just setup like this for now.
