i am trying to figure out what this is on my alt. what is this stuff?

so i am trying to figure out what those are because i am going to wire the motor correctly soon

Transpo makes aftermarket add-on regulators and regulator parts. Take it off and go back to a normal voltage regulator'

ok can you help me with that please? what is a normal regulator then?

Voltage regulator should be located on the left side of your car on the front core support just behind your headlight.

cant help you with the light and the lighter but i can tell you to check the sending unit wiring harness to make sure its good and you can also check the sending unit to see if the float is good and sending a good signal. I am not sure on the ohms readings from full to empty but i know it changes when you move the float. it sounds to me like the sending unit might be bad and not sending the right signal to the gauge. I only know this because i had it happen to me in another car. not sure if its the same on the chevelle

Should be right close to 0 ohms when empty and 90 ohms when full. You can disconnect sending unit, turn on ignition, should peg past full. Ground the wire heading back to the dash, turn ignition on, should read empty. That will tell you if gauge and wiring to dash are good.
