Hello Everyone
This is my first post:
I am looking to replace my power steering Gearbox. I added shims to the power steering pump to lower the pressure to 850 psi. It help but did not fix the problem. The steering wheel has no resistant’s. I have been looking online and found a Remanufactured 700 series gearboxs for around $350.00 that is a direct fit. One of them has a Variable Ratio 16:1 at center and varies to 13:1 the more you turn. The other three are 12.7:1 quick turn 14.1:1 slower turn and the slowest turn 17.5:1. Which one would be the best fit for my 72 chevelle. Thanks Ken

You could go with a Jeep grand cherokee gear box conversion.

You can put in a 93-98 GC box either rebuilt from a part store or from a salvage yard. You then need a new rag joint and some cheap fittings (which can be found here, http://lee-powersteering.com/rebuild-misc.htm )

Can be pretty cheap if you do the salvage yard route or maybe $150 if you buy from part stores. All-in-all, it provides a much more firm steering feel which helps when you are at highway speeds

Check this post out, different site but a lot of info on it.
