Years ago grumpy told me that green on a car was the kiss of death when going to sell it. He said that green usually fetched a lower price. Maybe that is why we call him grumpy.

With that said. I think that the car is really cool. I like the green, and the interior all in green is really cool. I have always liked that console. You have a nice ride.

A little "Green" with envy here.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. It started out as a low mile 307 2bbl Malibu. Other than the 5th character of the VIN and a few other small details, the car now has all of the "SS" options. I am hoping to throw some sticky tires on it and make a few passes before I do the heads and cam swap.

Funny you should say something about the color Ms Grumpy, for many years my father considered green to be bad luck. Now, we jokingly tell people that we built a "green car" to help the environment. :p

Nice car, I like the name "Green Bean". I noticed in all the pic's that the hood is in, your cowl induction door is closed, is it not fuctional for some reason?

Gary, it is not functional currently. I haven't had the time to address that detail. I'm sure I'll get around to it eventually.

Very nice and I love the color! I searched for over 2 years for a Forest green, white gut white stripe automatic 70.Then I found the black car.:)But,if I ever find the right green car,the black one is gone.

It sounds like you just described flemming's car.

looks nice! good green. Green interior is much and i can say that as mine it tooo blue. blue inside and out... want to go with white seat/door panels to break it up.

your would look good with black carpets or just the way it is. sweet ride and i always liked the thrust wheels...

Everyone Waving to the green bean, my father is trading it for a 1966 GTO convertible this coming Sunday. :( I will be sad to see it go, I've truly enjoyed this car over the years. (both driving it and working on it)

The GTO is dark blue with a white top and interior. 389 4bbl, 3 speed manual. It is a real "242" VIN car. I'll be sure to post some pictures by Monday.

It is hard to see a part of the family go. But there are always new adventures to be had.

I guess I am just biased, but I think given a choice between the two, I would still take the Chevelle. Not to say the Goat isn't nice and it certainly would grow on me!

I really will miss the Chevelle, had lots of good times with that car. My father got a little choked up today explaining how much this GTO means to him. In his own words, he remembers being sixteen in 1966... drooling over brand new GTOs. And, "Not having a pot to piss in" - let alone enough money to afford one. Now, nearly 50 years later... he owns one.

Nice looking GTO, but still a fan of Chevelle's over GTO's. Help a friend build a 66 and won at Hot August Nights one year with it.

Now if we start talking about 70 GTOs, the line blurs for me between Chevelles & GTOs...

I can understand your dad's sentimental value in the GTO. I am sure it is a feeling of accomplishment for him.

I would love to have an Orbit Orange 70' GTO. :D Glassgo's car that ran in the pure stocks always garnered my envy. I think his was even an ultra rare RAIV car.
