Welcome aussie. Try clicking on this link and scrolling down a couple of posts. There is a link to a site that might be able to help you with tire sizes.

Nothing larger then a 17" looks good on these cars. I have seen some very nice cars with 16" and 17" wheels that look great on them.

The 17in wheels on a 69 look great. I have some pics of one with the torque thrust American racings, let me find them.

Get 17" wheels....greater choice of tire sizes in 17" than with the 16s.

I prefer 17s, but even those are becoming obsolete as well... There will always be tires available for them, but not necessarily "good" ones.

I'm going to have to move up to 18s just to get the best rubber for them.

16s have very limited tire selection. They're mostly tall/narrow non-performance tires, and nothing that will fit a rim over 8" wide.

If you measure carefully and roll lips, you can fit 315s on 11" rims in the back of a '68-72.

Ask and you shall receive John. Take a look at the reflection in the first photo. Do you see it? That is the Challenger that was done at SEMA by the show Overhaulin'.

thanks, i have ended up going with 15"x10 convo pros on the rear with 275/60r15 tyres, it looks insane, thought i would keep with the era! on the front i have 15x8 225 s. pictured is the rim with a 275/50 which didnt fill the gaurd enough. man a new set of wheels makes a massive difference.
