After a couple "throw-away-junkers," my first "real" car back in the 60's was a 1965 SS 327 Chevelle Convertible.

It was burgundy with saddle interior and tan top. 4speed, bucket seats. I worked in the local Chevy dealer and parts were affordable - I ended up with a couple four-barrels - made mapping out a route from gas station to gas station a reality. I had to sell it for college money - of all the decisions I've made in the last six decades, that is my greatest regret.

My goal is to more or less reproduce that car. Here it is so far, except that I'm still waiting for the shipper to bring'er home - maybe this will be the week.

I don't know much about her yet, but engine and transmission are here, the lift and rotisserie waiting, chomping at the bit, ready to get started.

I love the '56 Chevy. I have a friend who live in Texas who has a 4 door like that. His grandfather bought the car new and it has been passed down to his dad, then to him. This man said if he ever sold it, I would be the 1st person he would call. His kids have no interest in the car and he knows they would just sell it. He has all the original paperwork and the car is all original and runs beautifully. I can't wait for that call.

Unfortunately, not my garage. That belongs to the detailer, but I did speak with him at length about the company he used to do the flooring.

I have no desire to put any more money in this current house, but the new one will have the exact same floor.

I don't have video of it revving or anything, but the 3" exhaust does get pretty obnoxious at WOT. However, the x-pipe & magnaflows keep the noise pretty subdued when just cruising around. I can easily listen to the radio or have a conversation without really trying.

I went flying by one of my friends wide open and he said stuff in his truck started rattling so....

About the only video I have of it running

Thanks John. I hope to have the mysterious windshield clips soon. I ordered them from three different places. That sounds a bit excessive, but I'm sick to death of hearing, "Not yet, try back next week."

As soon as I get the glass glued in, I can knock out what little body work I have left and start laying down some color. (glass has to be glued in to drive it to the paint shop, and windshield can't get glued in until the clips are in)

Honestly, when I sell this Monte Carlo... I fully intend to look for a "builder." Hell, if someone had one of equal value to my car, I would trade. I had a guy somewhat local wanting to trade, but he was only offering a few thousand dollars and his car. (It was kind of a basket case, and rusty) I passed on that deal, wish he would have been willing to double the cash on his end to make it a fair deal.

Maybe the last owner change the grill?
I found some SS on google with that grill...http://flameroad.com/pics/Chevrolet/0e/31/3727_Chevrolet-Chevelle-Malibu-454_11.jpg

The grille could have been replaced, but the stainless pieces are a kit you get for the grille. The malibu had the center strip where they left it off on the SS. It just clips on and is easy to take off if you decide to remove it. I like the look either way. If you look in my photobucket link you can see what it looks like without it.

One if my favorite 2018 pictures . . .
Bob Allen (Bill Allen's son) was working the rack the day I bought the Chevelle.
We became FB friends & later met at a Feb 2018 Kansas City event.

I asked Bob . . .
"Do you remember my Chevelle & other two Harrell cars on the lot that day?"
Bob replied . . .
"I really do, there was a Nova and a Camaro, all three Harrell cars" :)
