So I was just wondering who was going to Chevellabration 2011. And who is bringing their cars. I am still trying to work out the kinks in being able to go. I am trying my darndest, cause if I only go to one show this year.

I wanna go to Chevellabration 2011 !!!

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for those who want to go or are going ?

If you dont have your rooms yet you better find one soon as they fill up quickly .This is one show I cant miss as were selling 50/50 tickets for the Midsouth Chevelle Club and its also like a large family reunion except I like this family much better .Bring good walking shoes ,some snacks and beverages ,sun screen and a good hat .You can park your chairs under the nearby shade trees or pull up next to any tent and you will be welcomed whether they know you or not. Also there are golfcarts available to haul your stuff to and from your cars and even from the swap meet area and we will also offer rides to those who need it.There is first aid available if needed .If you go to the dragstrip follow someone that knows the way or get GPS coordinates because you can easily get lost in both directions (ask me how I know).

I am so looking forward to meeting so many people that I have talked to. I am pretty sure that if I can't find your car, you might remember mine. Either that or, since flash and the Mrs. are selling the 50/50 tickets, and riding in their golf cart, they will probably be able to point us in the direction of where people are parked. am I right flash ?

So now that my rooms are booked (thanks again flash), I am going to have to look into who is heading down from Michigan. Maybe we could make a caravan.

flash
05-10-2011, 08:10 PM
That is what we normally do is caravan up but we will probably solo up this year as not many of the Peachstate guys go anymore .

Trying to figure out the millage. Looks like it will be about 550 miles. According to mapquest it is telling me that it should take just over 8 hours. That is why we plan on coming down on Wednesday morning, so that we all can get some rest before Thursday.

I think its about 4 hours for us ,we'll know better soon as were going up to Chucks house for a club meeting and BBQ on saturday.

I think what I love about you Ohio guys is how much fun you have. Its so refreshing to go to a car show thats not stuffy. Hey were in this to have fun and you folks sure know how to do that. I look forward to getting to you guys better.

Those Ohio guys sure do know how to have fun and they make it look so easy when I know how much work they put into it.

Looks like there will only be a few of the Carolina guys there this year, the heat may have scared them off. It will be fun no matter who we hang with this year, new faces and friendships are always a good thing.

Unemployed, have to pick and choose, CB is out. Hope you all enjoy it. My neighbor is going, he doesn't have a Chevelle but wants a 70 LS6. He's going to look and see, I'm sure there will be at least a couple of cars for sale. His name is Daryle Parker. Good guy, still learning and not sure which way to go.

Hank, we got an extra seat if you want a ride. You are more than welcome, and you are not that far from us. We plan on leaving on Wednesday and returning on Sunday.

flash, I was just wondering if there is some kind of schedule that we can get a hold of ahead of time, so that we can plan our time to get the most out of our time. Is there anything that is going on, on Wednesday night ?

Nothing that I know of going on Wednesday night other than some parking lot BS'ing . The Sheminski's may be there (older couple showing and driving their deceased sons 71/72 silver Chevelle) at the same hotel you will be at. Their son was never able to make Chevellabration so they bring his car in his memory and in support for the nonprofit foundation they set up to help other cancer victims. We kind of addopted the Cheminski's during their first CB as they were kind of lost and had never been to a car show before ans we became fast friends. If you get a chance to meet them they will tell you young John's story and his fight to beat cancer. I wish I could have met him myself as his parents are just great people and they have been through so much but have the best attitude about life. If you dont meet them before our arrival we will introduce you to them when we arrive on Thursday .Of course we will also be working the show starting Thursday morning.

John it will be great to see you and Joan again. I met the Sheminski's last year, they are super nice people.

Gary, why aren't you bringing your "boy" to the family reunion, he would love to sit on the field with his buddies.

Although I can't say too much...I've been to every ACES regional event at least once...most of them numerous times...even the CanAm show when it was ACES.

Ms Grumpy
06-05-2011, 07:03 PM
Leaving Wednesday morning at 10am. Hoping to make it into Hotel parking lot around 8pm. It seemed like time was dragging until last week, now time is just flying by and I hope I remember everything that I need/want to take.

We will have the Van with trailer and my little Toyota Yaris. I hope nobody holds it against me that I am taking the Toyota, but with the Van and Trailer getting about 10mpg, I figured I should make up for some of that with my Toyota which gets about 40mpg. Gas is going to be a HUGE cost on this trip. But I know it is going to be worth it.

Chevelle_Nut
06-05-2011, 09:12 PM
Hey don't feel bad about the Toyota, my tow vehicle is a  FORD  Excursion Diesel. Unhitched it gets 20 MPG, towing it will get 12.

Ms Grumpy
06-05-2011, 09:47 PM
We considered taking our full size Astro. But it only gets about 22 on the highway, so gas would be twice as much.

Astro was the name of the Jetsons dog.:p

We have been watching the weather and from where we are it is telling us the temps are supposed to be in the high 90's and possible thunderstorms til Sunday. Come on Mother Nature....

Delta flys into Nashville from PIT...change of planes req'd in either CVG (Cinci) , DTW (Detroit), or MEM (Memphis).
All flights are in smaller RJ's (regional jets)...just a FYI in case you're not too good a flyer. :p
I suppose US scare and maybe SW also covers that route...

It only took 10 1/2 hours and blistering heat. But we made it. If anyone is planning on taking I-75 south to I-71, be prepared for a HUGE back-up. We ultimately left the line for 71 and continued south on 75, only to find huge amounts of cars with "BONARRO" on them, apparently another gathering going on in Tennessee. Then lots of construction on and off. And lots, and lots of backups. I am extremely tired and will hopefully post more, and maybe pics tomorrow. Let's all pray that the weather cooperates and doesn't rain. It is supposed to be in the mid 90's for the whole weekend.

Bonaroo is a GIANT granola barefoot hippie/hipster music-fest that takes place on some farm in BFE.
