The cost of fuel and food is really starting to hurt our families budget and we are having to rethink our CB 11 trip. Am I alone feeling this pinch?

No youre not alone ,we are feeling it too .But we will not miss CB 11 or the Northern Ohio show .This may be our last trip to Mississippi for Cruisin The Coast though ,we normally go there for a full week as we will this year. We definitely are going to be limited to which shows we go to. We would like to go back to the Carolina show since we missed last year but I dont think we will make it this year. Not only is it the cost of fuel and food Ive got a car and truck both in the bodyshop being restored .

I think we all have been watching the gas/fuel prices go up as things go crazy overseas. It is sad how, the hobby we love, will have to suffer because of that. Many of us have spent a lot of time and money to pursue our dream car, with the intention of showing off all that hard work.

As of now, I have only registered for 1 car show, but I will be going to the Ohio show and hopefully CB11. But the economy and the cost of fuel is definately a huge factor in determining what show we do. The hardest thing of all is knowing that we will not be seeing a lot of our friends because they were unable to go to some of the events.

This morning gas was $3.79 for cash, add .10 if you wanna charge it. And it does not look like we will have any reprieve any time soon.

With two children we have found that it is easier to trailer the car to distant shows rather than drive it. Diesel fuel is right at $4.00 a gallon now, 1 1/2 tanks to Nashville from here will cost at or around $200 each way.

Luckily, both Nashville and the NC shows are only about a tank of fuel away from us (trailering the Chevelle).
Although we have trailered a car to the OH show in past years, the last two shows we've just flown into CLE for the weekend.
I've even trailered up to the CanAm show a couple times.

Just an FYI about the fuel prices in the Nashville area ,we were there last weekend and gas was $3.69 a gal at most places .Now here in Ga where we live its as much as .40 cents a gallon higher . This price was for regular which is what we use.

We have been used to paying over $4.00 a gallon. Yesterday we were thrilled when we saw it for $3.85. I can only keep my fingers crossed that fuel prices will fall a little more before CB11.

That's how they want us to react. Up over a dollar per gallon in just a few months and we get happy when it drops fifteen cents. :(
I felt the same way when I noticed it selling for $3.78 today.

$3.85? Still over $4.00 out here in Brighton, $4.05 in town today. Every station in Brighton is the same price. If it goes up 2 cents they all go up 2 cents, if it goes down 2 cents, they all go down 2 cents. The Mobile, BP, Sunoco, Meijer, always the same price. There are a few right at the freeway exit that are higher.

Just found it for 3.79 and I nearly fell over. Hoping it keeps the downward slope at least until we get back from CB11.

Hank, I paid $3 78 this morning at the speedway on General Motors Rd & Milford Rd this morning and it's $3.69 in Fenton this evening when I went and got Pizza.

I saw $3.99 or $3.97, don't remember which last night in Brighton. The prices here are always higher than the surrounding areas.

We have a Marathon here in town that is at $3.79. I am watching them fall and hoping that it comes down in even more before the beginning of June. With the holiday weekend coming up, it will be so hard to judge where the prices are going to be.

We're paying 1.28/L for regular(89 octane) so around 4.84/gal if you figure it out. Premium(92 octane) is 1.40/L

I know in our household the price of fuel and groceries is very painful ,makes it hard to get ahead.

Before we never thought about what vehicle we were going to drive. But when gas started climbing, we stop and think about whether we are going to take the van or the little car.
Every day we keep recalculating what our fuel costs are going to be taking a 3/4 ton van pulling a trailer + taking another vehicle. If we take our van as the 2nd vehicle we are looking at 15-20mpg. If we take the little car we are looking at 35-40mpg. Sounds like an easy choice. But if we want to be pretty comfy for an 8 or 9 hour drive, hands down it's the van. If we want to get the gas mileage, then grumpy is not going to have very much head or leg room for the long drive.

With our tow vehicle and toyota we figure its gonna cost us about 650 in gass alone to make the trip.
