Electrical has been kicking my butt the last 3 nights. Been working under the dash and in the engine bay trying to get everything routed to the correct location and hooked up. Finally got most of the under the dash completed and started in the engine bay. Still have lots to do before I get finished up. Any pictures of the wire routing or ground straps on the back of the firewall would be helpful. For some reson this car did not have the ground straps from the valve covers to the fire wall only the lower one even though it had a radio. Have the wiring diagrams and assembly manual out, but pictures are worth a 1000 words.

Which routing are you concerned with Ray? My car never had the ground straps to the firewall. The assembly manual shows the locations, near the distributor. Should be dimples in the firewall. The engine harness and forward light harness are pretty straight forward but I can take some pictures. I don't have the TCS system installed, ignition converted to HEI and carb with electric choke.

Maybe Gary's car would be a better example to use. Oh, I talked to Brian Henderson when he was putting his harnesses in, I believe he has the TCS system and other wiring you might be interested in.

Hank, It funny everyone said these cars had the 3 ground straps and I'm finding more and more of them didn't have them. The front harness I think I have it figured out. I was looking for some of the routing along the inner fenders and along the fire wall. I think I missing some of the clips I should have on the fire wall that holds the wires and hose to the wiper washer. Talked to Gary and he doesn't have the straps either and is also missing some of the clips. I think I know which dipples the straps go to, but wanted to verify before I drill the holes. Also looking for the brown wire location from the tach to the coil location through the fire wall. I think it comes through below the wiper motor.

I think I have the TCS wires figured out this morning. They should be the blue, black and pink colored one hanging down to the left of the TCS unit.

Let me go pull the cover on my car and try to get a couple of pictures. No guarantee my is 100% correct but I did try to put it back the way it's supposed to be when I redid my harnesses.

First pic is forward light harness and washer fluid hose on inner fender. Two clips, one is hard to see, just below front edge of hood hinge behind where the green temp sensor wire exits the harness.

Second pic shows the brown tach wire coming through firewall below the wiper motor.

Third pic, hard to see. Look at firewall at top of brake booster just to left of tab that has the date code. That is clip screwed to the firewall that the engine harness and wiper hose goes through. It's on the firewall where it angles in to go behind the wiper motor. Engine harness comes from junction block, over the master cylinder behind the booster. Through the clip then behind the wiper motor. Blue oil pressure wire drops from harness in area of wiper motor. Harness then goes up to gutter on firewall, ignition wires exit harness in that area. I don't have any other clips on the firewall. Harness drops from gutter down to starter.

Fourth pic shows forward light harness coming up from below washer fluid bottle. It then runs across, underneath the valance to the junction block and eventually the alt. There are clips in the harness that snap into valance and hold the harness up inside it.

Let me know if there is anything else you need. I did confirm with Ray Barnes the routing of the engine harness since the 69 and 70 harness is the same.

Ray,maybe there are photos in my album that can help you. Btw,it's looking great! Are the rad support brackets supposed to be finished that way?

No, and to make the message long enough NO.

Hey Ray, forgot one thing. Pretty sure there is supposed to be a clip on the backside of the engine, passenger side, held on by a bellhousing bolt. The wires going to the starter go through the clip to keep them away from the exhaust manifold.

The guy who had the car before me had them chromed, I thinking about painting them black or look for another set this weekend at the swap meet. ,

Thanks Hank, That will help.

You are correct, the new wiring harness came with the clip attached. Next I will trying to get the baterry cable routed correctly. I know where the clips are for that. Thanks again for the pictures.

Bat cable is not too tough. Down off of battery to clip on inside of frame horn. Then over to clip attached to frame mount. Behind engine mount and back to starter.

Good luck Ray, sure hope I get to see your car sometime in the future. Sounds like you and Gary are going to have a couple of pretty impressive 70 SS's.
