Since the car is sitting in a friends shop covered up and waiting for me to find a way to get a motor rebuilt, I have been working on some of the interior stuff. Bucket seats springs were broken down and the frames very rusty. Had the seats blasted and just got some new springs. Expoy primered the frames and repainted them. Next will be getting the tracks cleaned up and working correctly.

Fun job, did my interior last year. The springs on the driver's side were pretty busted up. Installing the new seat covers is a real challenge.

Keep us posted on your seat progress as I have a pair out of a 70 GTO I may do someday .They were going to be for the 68 project but that aint going to happen .

I got a set out of a GTO I was going to rebuild for my car too but by the time I bought all new plastics, chrome trim, headrests, and the drivers side seat tracks with foam and covers It would be way beyond my budget- plus I already got the seat covers and lower foam for my bench seat :o)

Where are you getting your interior parts from? I used PUI for most of my stuff that I couldn't find in GM

The bucket seat covers came from Destinctive Enterprises and the door panels came from Ted Williams Enterprizes who assembles the door panels and paints all the trim pieces to match the interior. The fit is good on the panels. The price is more then OPI and less then Legendary price. I like the fact that I could get the extra panels to match which the other do not offer in this color. Just found the springs again, they were discontinued for a while. Most vendors are starting to carry them again. Still looking for a few parts for the buckets so I can get them covered.

I bought springs from NPD. Also look at your seat back rails real good while they're apart. My driver's seat leaned way back on the door side. I thought it was broken springs, there were broken springs but mostly in the seat bottom.

I found the side rail of the seat had cracked right below the cross panel that holds the headrest and seat latch. Look for any cracks starting in that area, you may want to weld or reinforce it before you put the covers on. Mine was cracked all the way through in that one spot and starting to crack on the other side.

Thanks for the heads up. My frames and springs look good, and the cushions are marginal with the drivers side bottom being the worst as usual. The hog rings somehow came off (may have been a previous recover) and the drivers side lower was separating really far from the plastics. I'm still undecided if I want to build these or not, I may try to trade them for an SS dash carrier or some other items needed or just throw them up for sale. If I do decide to refurbish them, have any of you guys got away with just using the bench seat belts with the buckets?

Worked on the seat tracks the last few days getting them cleaned up and working correctly. Also got mt steering shaft done for the car. Getting a few of the small things done until I can work on the motor.

Also does anyone have a picture on how the bigger spring connects to the track and the seat. I didn't take it off or I would have a picture of it.

Off to the uphostery shop on Monday finally. Been out of town every week for the last two months so work on the car has been slow, but back at it finally. Does anyone know what the clip goes to in the second to last picture. Found it loose in my parts box for the seats. I also found a guy who makes the back lock strap assembly like the original. The only thing I did was use gun blue on the steel to make it look like the original. The original is the one with out the clip on the bottom. I'm pushing for a June to be driving this car.

Seats look like new Ray. The clip doesn't look familiar but I didn't disassemble my seats as far as you did.
