David got the call from DART about an hour ago. Here I am standing in line at a store with my daughter waiting to pay for her school cloths, and David calls me. I am anticipating him telling me that alot of stuff was wrong and that it will be a costly repair. But that was not the case.

After looking through the motor DART said that it was a defective crankshaft, that they put in. So they changed the crankshaft and the bearings. Put it together, ran it on the dyno and everything looks good. It ran 523hp @ 5900 rpm with 513 ft lbs torque. WOW !!!

At no charge.

I am so excited. But I will have to wait til Monday to get the motor cause my brother is on his was to Norwalk for a race this weekend. I just can't stop smiling.

I am glad for you guys, that it was an easy ID of the issue, and that not only did they find it, but also replace it. That is going to be one mean Chevelle when you guys get it going again.

I can just about smell it, burning fuel, cooked rubber, mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.:D

The power that motor is producing, is still sinking in. I knew when I drove it, that something was wrong. But I still felt the power.

I don't think that we could have ever imagined things working out this way.

You guys, once it is dialed in with your car, that thing is going to haul some serious ass...like snap your neck and boil the tires at will fast.

The list will never end, as far as what we can/need to do. With finding out about the power the motor is putting out. We now have to think about the rear end, is it gonna be able to handle the power?

We have made it over the engine hurdle, now onto the next one. Let's just hope it is a little one.

Thanks guys. And for those of you who will be at the Northern Ohio Show next weekend, you will be able to see the car. I know that the motor still has to go in, but I am keeping positive thoughts.

Very nice! That motor is very very close to the 383 I've got in the 64 right now and let me tell you it puts a grin on my face from ear to ear every time I hit the skinny pedal. Your going to love that motor.

If your running regular street tires and they aren't wide then you will simply burn them off the car and shouldn't damage the rear end. If your running stickies or a wide tire that has some traction then you may want to think about a ford 9" under it. =)

Running a little wider tire. Looks like we are gonna have to plan and budget for the rear end.

what rear end/gears in it now???

even if it had a 10bolt I'd drive her as-is and spend your dough on a set of ladder bars

It has a 373 in it now. I know that we will have to change it, but I will be happy to make it through a day being able to just drive it.

Wow! What fun! I know what 400 HP feels like in a small block.... I can hardly wait for the reports on the 500+ in your car! (Then comes the nitrous.......)

No, no, no on the nitrous. I have never used nitrous, and I don't think I ever will. Now that doesn't mean that I don't like cars that do use it. It is just not for me...

Very impressive, should rattle a few windows when you fire it up in the neighborhood.

I am glad that the way that the garage is set up, that I don't drive between houses to pull it out. That kind of echo would not be good when you want to leave early in the morning. My neighbors kinda like me now, don't want to make em mad. I honestly don't think that the car is any louder now than it was when it left over a year ago. I think that the flowmasters have always made it sound beefy. But now it "is" really beefy.

My brother texted me last night and said the motor is in my car. They did not get the car running cause he ran out of energy. He spent the weekend at Norwalk and told me that the first round of eliminations on Saturday went til 5am on Sunday morning. He lasted thru the 2nd round. Sounded like he got home around 6pm. Then he had dinner plans and finally made it home at 9pm Sunday night. Then he got up and was at DART at 9am Monday morning to pick up my motor. So I am still here keeping my fingers crossed. Oh, by the way my brother was racing his 1972 Corvette.
