What are the correct wheels that came on the 72 SS? If someone could post a picture, that would really help.

I think it's the ones that are on the top of this page.

Here are some on ebay. Also check craigslist, so they show up now and then. Be careful, lot of people sell Camaro wheels as 71-72 SS wheels, they are different. The Chevelle wheel has a rounded spoke, the Camaro wheel has a flatter spoke. They are pretty similar so you could get away with using the Camaro wheels unless you really want it to be correct.

Here is a couple of pics. One is for a Camaro and the other is a 72 SS. The round valve stem hole is for the Camaro. The oval hole is for a Chevelle. You can notice the flatness in the spoke on the Camaro wheel. Plus the steel tire rim sits proud of the inner rim where the beauty rim attaches on the Camaro. Hope this helps.

Just wanted to add this as well...

There are actually four types of these wheels. 1970 had a 1x5/8" oval hole and 71'-75' had a 1 x 13/16" oval hole. 77/78 had a 7/8" round hole and 79'-81' had a 1 inch hole.

I myself have 11 of these wheels. Six of them are 70'-75' style with the oval hole for the valve stem. The other five are 77'-81' with the round valve stem hole. I have not measured to verify exactly what year, etc. However, three on my car are supposedly original to the car, early built date 72' car. And, I have three that are originals removed from a friend's 71' Z28 Camaro.

2 are in near perfect condition ,1 has gotten scratched pretty badly but easily fixed with new paint and 1 had gotten bent a little on the lip but I was able to get it pretty straight .They do come with center caps and bands .They are nice wheels ,only reason Im willing to sell them is my wife wont let me put them on her Malibu vert and I dont want to buy something else they will fit.

Any tires involved? I work in Alpharetta. I will wait to see the pics. Maybe we can work something out. Do you think the bent one can be balanced? What size are they?
